Existing Arch system
The Stage 2 installer applies packages, the selected role and hardware profile, static configuration, services, desktop assets, and Magma commands. A dry run is available before applying it.
MagmaOS
AIAn Arch-based LabWC desktop build intended to be reproducible, installable, repairable, and understandable.
Project model
The repository describes the intended machine; it does not silently become the machine. Installation copies reviewed source into place. Capture brings deliberate live changes back for review.
Installation paths
New disk
The Stage 1 installer is explicitly destructive: it partitions and erases the selected whole disk before installing the base system. Disk selection requires direct verification.
Roles and profiles
Roles are cumulative: headless, desktop, studio, and station. Profiles describe hardware rather than workflow; the current source includes macbook-t1, NVIDIA Pascal and Ampere profiles, and a generic path.
Normal operation
Magma Settings is the graphical front door for themes, display, audio, network, power, lock screen, applications, screenshots, and the key guide. LabWC is the supported default environment.
Validation and release
The repository check validates shell syntax, package names, session and greeter setup, installation invariants, screenshot tooling, administrator file-manager access, and required assets. An ISO build is not treated as released until it has booted and the installed machine has passed the project doctor checks.
Current status
Version 0.1.21 remains the current site posture and active daily system while the next release is refined. The website does not offer an unverified installer image.
Stage 1 erases a selected disk. The project page documents that boundary instead of reducing it to a generic download button.
